Double glazing refers to the technique in which there is a combination of two glasses separated by a spacer. The space between these two glasses is either filled with vacuum or an inert gas. Wooden double glazed windows have frames made out of hardwood. Hardwood frames are stunning in their looks and have a smooth finish. They are elegant in design. Wood has been used traditionally in making doors and windows. The other two popular choices are - Aluminium and uPVC. Aluminium is lightweight, slim and non-corrosive. It is preferred over wood because of it doesn't rot or swell. uPVC stands for un-plasticized Polyvinyl Chloride which is a hard and rigid material used to make frames. It is inexpensive, durable and easy to maintain.
